Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

By submitting a document to ManuscriptLab or using any of our services in any way, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Service in their entirety. If you do not agree, you must not use our services.

1. Acceptance and Modification of Terms

Your use of ManuscriptLab’s services constitutes your full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms of Service. ManuscriptLab reserves the right to modify, update, or replace these terms at any time and without prior notice. It is your sole responsibility to check this page for changes. Continued use of our services after any modification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

2. Scope of Services — Language Assistance Only

ManuscriptLab provides language editing, proofreading, substantive editing, formatting, and related academic support services. Our services are limited strictly to improving the language, structure, clarity, and presentation of the submitted document.

ManuscriptLab does not verify, validate, authenticate, or guarantee the scientific accuracy, factual correctness, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, or originality of any content within any document submitted to us. We are a language and editorial service only.

3. Full Author Responsibility for All Content

The author is solely, fully, and exclusively responsible for the entire content of their manuscript at all times — before, during, and after our editing services. All edits, suggestions, corrections, and changes made by ManuscriptLab are advisory in nature only. The author bears full responsibility for reviewing, accepting, rejecting, or modifying any edit before using the document in any way.

ManuscriptLab is not responsible for any errors, inaccuracies, omissions, inconsistencies, or issues of any kind that exist in, remain in, or are perceived to have been introduced into the manuscript at any point. The author’s obligation to thoroughly review all edits before submission is absolute and non-negotiable.

4. No Guarantee of Any Outcome

ManuscriptLab makes absolutely no representation, warranty, promise, or guarantee — express or implied — that use of our services will result in acceptance, publication, or any favourable outcome from any journal, conference, institution, funding body, or publisher. Acceptance decisions are made entirely at the discretion of third parties and are wholly beyond our control and responsibility.

ManuscriptLab shall not be held responsible for journal rejection, desk rejection, revise-and-resubmit decisions, peer review outcomes, editorial decisions, withdrawal of papers, retraction, or any other outcome arising from the submission and publication process.

5. Grammar Checkers, Plagiarism Tools, and AI Detection Software

You may choose to run your edited manuscript through any third-party grammar checker, plagiarism detection tool, AI content detection tool, similarity checker, or any comparable software before or after submission.

ManuscriptLab is entirely and unconditionally not responsible for any results, scores, flags, warnings, reports, or outcomes produced by any such third-party tool, including but not limited to Grammarly, Turnitin, iThenticate, Copyleaks, GPTZero, Originality.ai, or any similar platform. Such tools operate on the basis of their own proprietary algorithms, which are outside ManuscriptLab’s knowledge or control. Any result produced by such tools does not constitute evidence of any fault, failure, or liability on the part of ManuscriptLab.

The decision to use any such tool, and all consequences arising from its results — including any action taken by a journal, institution, or employer based on those results — are entirely the responsibility of the author. ManuscriptLab has no affiliation with any of these tools and accepts zero liability for their outputs.

6. No Responsibility After Delivery

ManuscriptLab’s responsibility in connection with your manuscript ends entirely upon delivery of the completed order to you. After delivery:
  • ManuscriptLab bears no responsibility for how you use, share, modify, or submit the document
  • ManuscriptLab bears no responsibility for any event, outcome, or consequence arising from the publication process
  • ManuscriptLab bears no responsibility for how any third party — including journals, publishers, peer reviewers, or institutions — handles or responds to your manuscript
  • ManuscriptLab bears no responsibility for any changes you make to the document after delivery

7. Originality, Plagiarism, and Ethical Compliance

ManuscriptLab does not conduct plagiarism checks as part of standard editing services unless explicitly purchased as a separate service. It is the author’s sole responsibility to ensure that their manuscript meets the originality, citation, and ethical standards required by their target journal or institution.

ManuscriptLab shall not be held liable for any plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, copyright infringement, ethical violation, or any other integrity issue that exists in or is attributed to any submitted document. These matters are entirely outside the scope of our services and entirely within the author’s responsibility.

8. Intellectual Property

You represent and warrant that you are the rightful owner of, or are fully authorised to submit, any document you provide to ManuscriptLab. ManuscriptLab claims no ownership over your work. However, ManuscriptLab shall not be held liable for any intellectual property dispute, copyright claim, or ownership conflict arising from the content of documents submitted by you.

9. Accuracy of Submitted Files

You are solely responsible for ensuring that the document submitted is the correct, complete, and intended version. ManuscriptLab edits only what is submitted and bears no responsibility for any outcome resulting from your submission of an incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or wrong version of any document.

Requests to replace a submitted file after editing has commenced may not be accommodated and may result in additional charges at ManuscriptLab’s sole discretion.

10. Delivery and Turnaround

ManuscriptLab will make reasonable efforts to deliver within the agreed turnaround time. However, ManuscriptLab is not liable for any delay caused by incomplete instructions, late submission of required materials, technical issues, or any circumstance beyond our reasonable control. Turnaround times commence only upon receipt and confirmation of all required materials.

11. Refunds

Dissatisfied clients may contact us within 7 days of delivery to request free re-editing. Refund requests are assessed entirely at ManuscriptLab’s discretion on a case-by-case basis.

Refunds shall not be granted on the basis of journal rejection, peer review decisions, results from grammar checkers, plagiarism tools, AI detection software, or any other third-party tool or process. ManuscriptLab’s free re-editing offer constitutes the primary and preferred remedy in all cases.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

ManuscriptLab’s services are provided strictly on an “as is” and “as available” basis. ManuscriptLab makes no warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to any implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from ManuscriptLab shall create any warranty not expressly stated in these terms.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ManuscriptLab, its founders, editors, staff, contractors, and representatives shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages of any nature, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of reputation, loss of research opportunities, or any other loss, arising out of or in connection with the use of our services — even if ManuscriptLab has been advised of the possibility of such damages. ManuscriptLab’s total aggregate liability in any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by the client for the specific order in question.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ManuscriptLab and its editors, staff, and representatives from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use of our services; your document content; your breach of these Terms; your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; or any action taken by a journal, institution, or third party in connection with your manuscript.

15. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts. ManuscriptLab reserves the right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any jurisdiction.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed from the remaining terms, which shall continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ManuscriptLab with respect to the use of our services and supersede all prior agreements, representations, or understandings of any kind.
